Gorbachev & Louis, Go Together Better Than you Think
Louis Vuitton is attempting to highlight its heritage as a luxury travel brand in a campaign dubbed “The Art Of Travel.” The last president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev is included in the ads. Gorbi looks uncomfortable, but we like that. We’re not against Louis Vuitton using a venerable head of state in their campaign.
My first inclination was to be WTF, the last president of the still largely Communist USSR poses next to designer luggage? Then I thought about it a little more, Russia recently saw a surge in luxury goods and is the nation where people have been quoted as saying a watch isn’t a watch unless it costs $100,000.
