Theophilus London Makes Whitney Houston Charming AND Electro
With “Always Love You” Theophilus London takes the most intriguing part of an 18 year old single – the sheer endlessness of the vocals – chopping it and screwing it against an electro beat that is equal parts minimal and dancefloor banger. The best part of London’s track though is his taking the seemingly endless vocal stretches of the original and turning them into a series of stuttering, repetitive utterances as he declares “I never go corny” halfway through. Luckily for everyone, despite his source content, Theophilus London was able to make a track that is anything but corny.
