Elizabeth Edwards is a Wise Woman

Watching this clip I am reminded of two things – The resounding calls of “Obama/Edwards” from the Half in Ten launch event video from a people who were sure that John Edwards could help usher in the change that Obama’s campaign centered around.

The other thing I am struck by is Elizabeth Edwards’ willingness to come right out in calling a fame whore (pun half intended) a fame whore while stating that she won’t let such people destroy the family she’s raised. Too many public figures speak in code, but she was willing to come right out and say what she believed :

While she was very frank, Elizabeth Edwards did place one condition on the interview — that the name of John’s mistress not be used. (It never appears in her book, either.) Oprah asked why. In her response, Edwards suggested Rielle Hunter is a fame-seeker who shouldnt be gratified.

“You know, somebody wants to stand in the light, you know, that shines on John, that’s one thing,” she said. “If they somehow, you know, work at destroying my family and my home in order to get into that light, Im really not interested in them being in the light too much. Its not about this woman. Its about this family.”

Edwards also said, when asked about her kids’ response to the affair, that “maybe the cancers a bigger thing in their lives than this womans passing through.”
