Rachel Maddow and Reza Aslan on Iran ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet’

Speaking about what has been called the biggest protest in the tumultuous six day aftermath of the highly contested tenth Iranian Presidential election, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and author Reza Aslan, point out that the Iranian government may have actually backed themselves into a corner with their ineffective strategies in dealing with the nationwide uprising in support of democracy in Iran.

As Maddow and Aslan point out, if the figures of today’s marches being the biggest yet hold up, that would mean that this new uprising of Iranian people is on par (if not surpassing) the Revolution of 1979 to the corrupted Mohammad Rezā Shāh Pahlavi. Along with the strength in their numbers, the Iranian people also have the diverse socio-economic makeup of the masses marching in the streets to their advantage this time around. Unlike the 1999 protests, the people fighting for the right to an Iranian democracy today come from all of Iran’s social classes – from the most powerful to the unemployed masses, they have all taken part in this green revolution. Also working to the advantage of the protests of today is that there really is no way to completely blackout the media, word from the streets of Iran will get out one way or another:

An anonymous show of force. The opposition is alive, even if you cant see us.”

This uprising is getting bigger, not smaller
