Musicians, Actors, Producers, Politicians Remember Michael Jackson

Everyone from Nia Long, Lupe Fiasco, and Wale all the way down to arguably, the biggest living pop star left in the world now, Britney Spears, have issued heartfelt and powerful statements on the death of Michael Jackson:

Nia Long:

Michael was a kind soul with endless talent. He was explosive on stage. His songs benchmark some of the most important moments of my life. I know his fans all over the world share my sadness. Thank you Michael for teaching us our ABCs and 123s Nobody wears a glove like you do. Nobody walks the moon like you do. There will never be another star that shines like you do. I love you Michael!

It’s a heavy blow to anybody that calls themselves a performer. it’s a heavy, heavy blow… I don’t even know what to say.

Quincy Jones:

I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don’t have the words. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him.

Kelly Rowland:

Michael you left such a legacy on this earth, have touched SO MANY!!! We thank you for such a driving inspiration in music & our lives!! This has got to be one of the saddest days in music history!! Michael Rest In Peace! WE miss you!

Reverend Al Sharpton:

A friend of Michael’s for the last 35 years, I call on people around the world to pray for him and his family in the hour.

I have known Michael since we were both teens, worked with him, marched for him, hosted him at our House of Justice headquarters in New York, and we joined together to eulogize our mutual idol, James Brown. I have known him at his high moments and his low moments and I know he would want us to pray for his family.

Lupe Fiasco:

I’m hurt. I’m celebrating his life and his music. Dancing and crying and dancing in public. Holding hearttoheart conversations with complete strangers about one of the things, if not the only thing, we share in common, That Is The Legendary MoonWalker Himself. A white guy in a pickup truck pulled alongside me on the expressway and shouted to me, had I heard about Mike?!? It’s surreal and it’s everywhere!!! Every time I feel like getting sad, one of his songs comes on.

This is such a tragic loss and a terrible day. The incomparable Michael Jackson has made a bigger impact on music than any other artist in the history of music. He was magic. He was what we all strive to be. He will always be the king of pop! Life is not about how many breaths you take, but about how many moments in life that take your breath away. For anyone who has ever seen, felt, or heard his art, we are all honored to have been alive in this generation to experience the magic of Michael Jackson.

I am fucked up right now about this. He WAS the80s, the 90s. He is arguably the most famous person of the last century, more so than any religious or cultural leaders. He was the originator of music for the world. I always thought I’d meet him one day. … I’m at a loss of words.

Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life!! He made me believe in magic. I will miss him!

Justin Timberlake:

I can’t find the words right now to express how deeply sadden [sic] I am by Michael’s passing. We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of not only Pop music, but of all music. He has been an inspiration to multiple generations and I will always cherish the moments I shared with him on stage and all of the things I learned about music from him and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

Nobody had a voice like Michael’s. As I got older, it was Beat It and Billie Jean, then I got into the producer world and, wow, really got inside the music more. You cant duplicate what Michael Jackson did. He was something very special. He’ll be remembered for his music, his voice, his dancing and just being him. Hes not an everyday thing. You cant mold somebody to be Michael Jackson. A musical genius has been taken away.

I am so grateful to have worked with the King. He was a gift to the world, he is a bright light and I wouldnt be surprised if the world stopped spinning tomorrow.

This loss has deeply saddened me, with a heavy heart I composed this statement. May God cover you Michael. We all lift your name up in prayer. I pray for the entire JACKSON family particularly Michael’s mother and all his fans that loved him so much. I would not be the artist, performer, and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael. I have great admiration and respect for Him and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to meet and perform with such a great entertainer.

Jamie Foxx:

You cannot say enough about what he has given to us musically and culturally. We take for granted people like him. … All he wanted to do was give us great music and that’s what he did. Every single day was dedicated to us. … I’ll tell you this. Seeing him in concert in 1983, the Victory concert with his brothers, to watch people faint in the audience. Grown men fainting. Women fainting just because he was that dynamic…all you can say is that you hope we put our arms around his family.

Jim Jones:

I just want to say to everyone the least we can do is give the greatest whos ever done it a moment of silence and prayers to his family.

I cant stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.

Britney Spears:

“I was so excited to see his show in London,We were going to be on tour in Europe at the same time and I was going to fly in to see him. He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I’m devastated he’s gone!”
