MTV’s VMA Nominations Getting Better, But Still Terrible as a Whole

This year’s Video Music Award nominations actually boast some great pop videos: Gnarls Barkley’s Whose Gonna Save My Soul, Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Heads Will Roll, and essentially the entire Breakthrough Video cateogry, unfortunately, many of these videos were nominated in the wrong categories.

Though Eminem’s We Made You and Britney Spears’ Womanizer both made a huge cultural impact upon their debut, there’s little doubt that Gnarls Barkley’s Whose Gonna Save My Soul is infinitely better than both videos combined. As for Womanizer, though a good video and definitely a huge pop culture moment, there is little doubt that Circus was overall the better, more stylish video.

In the end though, it could always be worse and at least Kanye’s Bjork-lite Love Lockdown adds some interest and creativity to the otherwise blaze Video of the Year category:
