Hamid Karzai Continues Trend of Criticizing Wrong U.S. Admin.

To say that Hamid Karzai’s recent criticisms of the Obama Administration is frustrating would be an under-statement.

Karzai says that Afghanistan has not received commitments promised from the United States, but much of the blame for that can be placed upon Karzai for not pressuring the Bush Administration for the past 8 years to live up to its word.

It seems as if Karzai, in a bid to appeal to the Afghan masses who have lost what little faith they had in him, is trying to hold the less than one year old Obama Administration responsible for the sins of the Bush Administration Karzai was too afraid to stand up to.

This is of course self-defeating considering that the Obama Administration is legitimately trying to make Afghanistan a priority unlike the Bush Administration.

As for his questions about the reliability of a Western – Afghan partnership, one must ask Karzai who he feels would be a better partner to help extend basic human rights and democracy to Afghanistan?

Karzai pointed the finger at the United States in a separate, pre-recorded CNN interview.
Is the United States a reliable partner with Afghanistan? Is the West a reliable partner with Afghanistan?” Karzai asked. “Have we received the commitments that we were given? Have we been treated like a partner?”

Karzai said a partnership to him waswhere the Afghan lives are respected, where Afghan property is respected, where the Afghan traditions are respected, where we know the direction we are moving to.”

The comments appeared to allude to Karzai’s longstanding criticism of civilian deaths in US air strikes, and to President Barack Obama’s still unresolved review of US strategy and his commander’s request for up to 40,000 more US troops.
