Akon and David Guetta Join Madonna’s Party
Ordinarily an Akon-assisted Madonna track would bring back thoughts of lame attempts at relevance through the enlistment of artists that were the it sound of 3 years ago. A phenomenon that much of Madonna’s recent output has been guilty of, but somehow, despite all the cliches of desparation it should have embodied, this remix works remarkably well.
David Guetta and Akon manage to add some serious life to a middling track that in its former incarnation wouldn’t compel anyone but the most diehard Madonna fans to the dance floor.
As for Akon’s Just Dance-esque ‘under the strobe lights we can let go of it all’ refrain, his (obviously computer assisted) strong vocals perfectly top off the Guetta adjusted beat. As an added bonus, Akon’s rap luckily save us all from the terrible ‘I didn’t recognize you with your clothes on’ line that conjured up images of an over-sexed gnarled middle-aged fame-hungry succubus sucking the very life essence out of her younger prey.
