Rolling Stone’s Taste in Pop Music Makes Us Cry
This ladies and gentlemen is Rolling Stone’s list of the Top 25 Songs of 2009. Based on the contents of the list it seems as if Rolling Stone is trying desperately to balance between the taste of the Blogosphere and the Top 40 without ever fully embracing either beyond the superficial:

Though the list as a whole is not terrible, there are some confounding inclusions that make me weep for the state of Pop music and the dwindling cultural relevance of Rolling Stone. Notice that Miley Cyrus ranks higher than Pearl Jam and the presence of the Black Eyed Peas’ insufferably inescapable Boom Boom Pow.
On the bright side, Empire State of Mind, the Crookers Remix of Day ‘N Nite, Drake’s Successful, Bat For Lashes’ Daniel, and La Roux’s Bulletproof all made the list.
