At Brother’s Funeral, Hamid Karzai Calls Taliban ‘Dears’

“Once again I call on the Taliban, my dears, my brothers and friends, come and join me in building the country. Stop destroying the country,”

At the funeral of his younger brother, Ahmed Wali Karzai, Afghan President Hamid Karzai called the Taliban – who are claiming responsibility for the death of Ahmed Wali – his friends, dears, and brothers.

This is not the first time the elder Karzai, who is currently seeking ‘peace’ and ‘re-integration’ with the Taliban, has referred to the terrorist group in fraternal terms. At last summer’s Peace Jirga, the Afghan President used near identical terms in yet another call for the Taliban to “live in peace as brothers” in the embattled nation.
